Manchester City have been on an unusual run of form by their lofty standards in recent weeks.
Specifically, after losing five games in a row across all competitions, City’s previous match saw them a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
This draw against the Dutch side was called an “absolute disaster” by Alan Shearer after the Blues conceded their three goals in midweek within a 14-minute window.
Across those six previous winless games, Pep Guardiola’s side have scored seven goals but conceded 17.
Ahead of City’s match against Liverpool this afternoon, one pundit and former Premier League winner has suggested a positive note regarding the Manchester club’s dip in form.

Chris Sutton admits ‘nice’ point about City’s poor form
Appearing on Football Focus, Chris Sutton wasn’t shy in sharing his thoughts on City’s recent run of performances and results.
He said: “In previous seasons we’d have just expected Manchester City to get the control back in the game and ease through. But it’s quite nice in many ways, the fact that they’re just normal and we’re seeing that they’re like every other team.
“We thought they were invincible under Pep Guardiola and now Pep’s under pressure trying to win a fifth Premier League title on the spin.”
City’s rivals will be delighted with their poor form
After seeing his side lose 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, Kyle Walker gave this explanation for City’s poor form.
He said: “I wouldn’t say we’ve lost confidence together. I’ve spent eight years with this group. You lose confidence as a team but we have to remember what we’ve achieved together.
“What we’ve achieved in the past means nothing, it’s history.
“We have one team above us doing really well. We’ll keep fighting to the end as we always do.
“Your powers don’t just go. We know our qualities and weaknesses. You get a win, you get your confidence and we’re back to how we used to feel.”

Bearing in mind how City have won six out of the seven previous Premier League trophies on offer, it makes it easy to see why Sutton thinks everyone in the country outside of the Manchester club will be happy to see them struggle in recent weeks.
However, Sutton’s suggestion isn’t exactly positive from a City point of view.
Moving forward, to get themselves out of their mire, the City squad and coaching staff should take no interest in what any pundits are saying about them and should solely focus on themselves.
The best way for the Blues to get their season back on track would be to do what they’ve only been able to do twice in the Premier League era and secure a much-needed victory against Liverpool.
