Pep Guardiola has seen a wide range of new players make their way to Manchester City during his reign in charge of the Blues.

Having been at the Etihad Stadium since 2016, Guardiola has brought in a lot of new signings to strengthen his City squad in an effort to help them win all the trophies they’ve got their hands on in recent years.

Now that the 2024/15 season is underway, one of the newer faces in Guardiola’s ranks has found himself being highlighted by a pundit and former top-flight player for what he’s shown to be capable on on the pitch.

Ben Foster claims Savinho already knows how to play for Man City

Speaking in a recent video shared on his YouTube channel while assessing City’s win over Ipswich, particularly the Blues’ second goal of the game where Kevin De Bruyne scored after Aro Muric lost the ball in his penalty box, Ben Foster had this to say about Savinho’s role in the goal where he pressured the Ipswich goalkeeper in losing possession.

He said: “You speak about Man City’s press here right, Savinho he’s a new player to Man City right, he’s not really probably up to speed fully on how Man City play.

“It looks to me like he’s got an inbuilt press already in him, he knows exactly what to do, everybody else knows exactly what to do.

“As soon as he takes that second touch Muric, every Man City’s player’s eyes just light up.”

Savinho has had a bright start at City

Since arriving at the Manchester club from Troyes back in July in a deal worth a reported fee of £33m, Savinho has started both of City’s opening Premier League games.

Against Ipswich, not only did the winger press Muric into losing the ball that led to De Bruyne scoring his only goal of the game, but he also won the penalty that Haaland scored to put City back on level terms with the visitors.

The Brazilian also won four tackles on Saturday, which further highlights how useful he can be when trying to win the ball for his side and pressing the opposition.

After the Ipswich game, Erling Haaland said that he has been very impressed with what he’s seen from Savinho so far at City.

If the summer recruit continues to perform well on and off the ball, he’ll end up being a key player for his new side as they hope to add even more silverware to their cabinet.
