Pep Guardiola thinks that Manchester City could have Oscar Bobb for ‘many, many years’ in the first-team if he wants to stick around.
Bobb stole headlines at the weekend after he scored an injury-time winner against Newcastle United in Saturday night in the Premier League.
Bobb scored after being played in by the brilliant Kevin De Bruyne, who was making his return to Premier League action.
It was Bobb’s first goal in the Premier League, and he won’t be scoring too many better ones in truth – the way he collected the ball and evaded Martin Dubravka before finishing was nothing short of superb.
Bobb – who hailed De Bruyne for his assist to him – is growing in confidence with every game he plays, and Guardiola is seriously excited about the youngster…
Pep Guardiola says Oscar Bobb could be at Man City for ‘many, many years’

Some more Guardiola quotes have now emerged following Saturday night’s game, with the embargo from his post-match press conference having been lifted last night.
After the 3-2 win, Pep spoke about Bobb and his huge potential – and the manager reckons he could be at the club for a long time if he wishes to stay.
He said (mancity.com): “We have another player for many years for us if he decides to stay as for now he is happy with his minutes like Cole Palmer was happy with his minutes.
“But after two or three years they want more and it’s natural, it’s completely understandable and maybe I don’t give them the minutes and they decide to go.
“If he decides to stay, we have a player for many, many years.”
Pep also touched on how he came to get Bobb into his first-team squad, revealing that sporting director Txkiki Begiristian actually alerted him to his quality and potential after City had sealed the Treble.
“Txiki at the end of last season said to me that in the Under 23s Oscar Bobb was the best player by far and I said: ‘OK [he’ll] go to Japan [on our summer tour] to start to train with us’.
Oscar Bobb could be another Phil Foden
Many City fans will be really encouraged listening to these comments from Guardiola about Bobb, who is clearly a massive talent.
We know Guardiola is a fan, but the manager seems to think that Bobb could really be at the club for many years thanks to the quality he has.
Quite possibly, he could be another Phil Foden case for City.
Foden is arguably the greatest academy product City have ever produced, and has now been in the first-team for seven seasons, with the 23-year-old having gradually played more and more the older he’s got.
The way things are going, Bobb could well be another product from the academy who stays at the club for years and eventually becomes a regular, just like Foden.
