Fabio Capello believes Kylian Mbappe is a “better footballer” than Erling Haaland.
It seems like football’s biggest debate, as far as players go in today’s day and age is centred around Haaland and Mbappe.
Judging by last season, not many would argue that the Norwegian bettered the Frenchman, as he led Manchester City to winning the treble while the latter only lifted the Ligue 1 title and the Trophée des Champions.

However, Kylian Mbappe has made his stamp on European football since the 2016/2017 season, spearheading AS Monaco to a Ligue 1 title as well as a place in the Champions League semi-final. The 25-year-old has also managed to partake in two World Cup finals, winning one in 2018.
With both Haaland and Mbappe having reached insurmountable heights at such a young age, one can understand why it is a challenge to split them.
But Fabio Capello sides with Kylian Mbappe over Erling Haaland in the endless debate about which of the superstars is the superior player.
“[Kylian] Mbappe is not a centre-forward, he likes to play more on the wing. Madrid already has Vinicius [Jr.] in that band but Mbappe is Mbappe! If Madrid is going to sign [him], they have to ask themselves if they have a centre-forward now. And it doesn’t have it. He needs that more. But if you are going to look at technical quality, who is the better footballer, Mbappe is above [Erling] Haaland”, he told MARCA.
Interestingly, the Italian had also claimed that Kevin De Bruyne is a bigger difference-maker for Manchester City than the former Borussia Dortmund striker.

Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with Fabio Capello, one reason why Erling Haaland could surpass Kylian Mbappe is due to being at one of the best-run clubs in the world in Manchester City, in our view.
The five-time Ligue 1 winner is a part of a Paris Saint-Germain side who continue to flatter to deceive in the Champions League, which seems to be the club’s ultimate goal to win.
Furthermore, there remains a mystery about whether Mbappe will decide to leave PSG in the summer or prolong his spell at a club whose project is yet to have been fully successful.
Haaland, on the other hand, is part of a City side who never seem to rest on their laurels, both on and off the pitch and are expected to dominate both domestically and in Europe for years to come.
With that in mind, Erling Haaland has every chance of surpassing Kylian Mbappe as a player over time.
