James Maddison lauded Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden on Instagram after his phenomenal hat-trick against Brentford on Monday.

The Englishman’s teammates at City also heaped praise on him on the social media application, with Josko Gvardiol commenting, ‘What an unbelievable performance’ and Jack Grealish writing, “Unbelievable Geoff” [as a reference to Chris Kamara’s iconic catchphrase aimed at Jeff Stelling].

Nathan Ake also hailed the 23-year-old by claiming that he was “on fire” against Thomas Frank’s side.

James Maddison hails “brilliant” Phil Foden after Manchester City defeat Brentford

Despite Neil Maupay giving the Bees the lead and the danger of the hosts beating City for the third successive time in their last three Premier League outings, Phil Foden had other plans.

Being the top player he is, the Stockport-born attacker took the game by the scruff of the neck and bagged three goals to ensure his team extended their winning streak to nine in all competitions.

After Manchester City technician Phil Foden took to Instagram to celebrate his performance and his side’s 3-1 triumph against Brentford, James Maddison praised him by commenting on his post.

“Brilliant mate”, the Tottenham Hotspur talisman commented followed by three clapping emojis.

The Tottenham midfielder must know more than most how talented Phil Foden is

James Maddison, like the rest of the world who tuned in to watch Phil Foden deliver a masterclass for Manchester City against Brentford must have been stunned by his display.

But simultaneously, having gone toe-to-toe with Foden on several occasions for both Leicester City and Tottenham as well as training and playing with him for England, Maddison perhaps needs no reminding of the class he possesses.

Being an attacking midfielder himself, the 27-year-old must also appreciate how special of a talent the treble-winner is and how impactful he is for arguably the best team in the world.
