Manchester City are now trying to sign Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich – a player who has been compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It was 90min who claimed that Pep Guardiola is looking to reunite with the Germany international.

So, what was said about Manchester City and Joshua Kimmich? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, this would be an exciting signing for Manchester City – to say the least.

90min believe Manchester City tried to sign Kimmich during the summer transfer window, but were told that an exit would not be happening – despite the fact he considered a move.

However, the Citizens have kept tabs on the German’s situation, as he enters the final 18 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Kimmich – who is valued at €50m (£43m) by the CIES Football Observatory – is still said to be considering his options after eight years at Bayern Munich, which has Manchester City on red alert.

90min add that Manchester City rate the Bayern Munich No.6 as one of the best midfielders on the planet, and value his positional versatility greatly.

Manchester City could sign their own Trent Alexander-Arnold in Joshua Kimmich

Kimmich is a household name in football, so most will not need a comparison to a well-known player like Alexander-Arnold in this instance.

Nevertheless, the 28-year-old has still been likened to Liverpool’s No.66 as a result of his technical effectiveness playing as a right-back or in the centre.

It was Danny Murphy who made the claim when speaking on BBC Match of the Day Two back in June 2021.

The 46-year-old said: “Kimmich, he can play anywhere. He’s such a talent. A brilliant crosser of the ball and a good passer of the ball. He’s the nearest thing to Trent (Alexander-Arnold) that I have seen, in terms of how to dictate a game from a full-back area.”

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City target Kimmich.
