Callum Doyle has signed a contract extension with Man City until 2027, as confirmed by the club academy on Twitter.
Callum Doyle signs new Man City contract
The English centre-half, who rose up the City academy ranks is regarded as one of the most talented young players in his position in the country.
Fortunately for Man City, they have tied Callum Doyle down to a contract extension till 2027, after his previous deal was set to expire in 2024.
The 19-year-old has impressed out on loan for both Sunderland and Coventry City, accompanied by Josh Wilson-Esbrand in January.
Many even felt that he was Sunderland’s standout player, which tells you all you need to know.
At Coventry City as well, the gifted youngster is proving his mettle as one of the finest defenders in the Championship.
Often likened to Aymeric Laporte, Doyle is also a left-footed centre-back, blessed with an excellent reading of the game and an eye for a pass.
Considering the Pep Guardiola way of playing football, it makes complete sense why Man City decided to hand him a contract until 2027.
Big vote of confidence
As we have seen recently, the contract extensions handed out to prodigies such as James McAtee, Cole Palmer, Oscar Bobb, Liam Delap, and Josh Wilson-Esbrand were indicators of the fact they are set to be a part of the club’s future.
The same can be said for Callum Doyle, after he was tied down to a long-term contract.
With Aymeric Laporte (28), John Stones (28), Nathan Ake (27) and Manuel Akanji (27) all being in their late 20’s, it is likely that will start to slow down or leave the Etihad Stadium one day.
In both scenarios, to have a player with Doyle’s potential potentially ready to step in is brilliant for both City and the wonderkid.
