It has been reported that Chelsea internally view Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol as one of the top three young centre-backs in the world.
This comes from The Athletic, who have revealed how highly Mauricio Pochettino’s side have always rated Levi Colwill.
Now, it seems like Chelsea believe the English talent as up there with Manchester City colossus Josko Gvardiol in terms of young defenders in world football.
Chelsea consider Josko Gvardiol as one of the top three young centre-backs in the world
Branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Mateo Kovacic, the 21-year-old is undoubtedly a generational talent, proving his mettle in the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the World Cup as well in such a short career.
Perhaps the biggest testament of how special of a prospect the Croatian international is the fact that Pep Guardiola’s men looked to sign him off the back of winning the treble.
However, Chelsea believe that alongside Manchester City centre-half Josko Gvardiol, they have the two best young defenders in the world in Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile.

In addition, the Blues also internally believe that Colwill is as the highly-rated wonderkid in possession.
Josko Gvardiol is in a league of his own
While Chelsea should take immense pride in having the likes of Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile on their books, to even consider them at the same level as Josko Gvardiol is a stretch.
The former RB Leipzig defender is not only a more proven prospect but to add to that, he is perhaps the most complete centre-back out of his agemates in every possible respect.
Defensively, Gvardiol is a terrific reader of the game, an astute tackler and also capable of defending large spaces.
On the ball, the youngster is perhaps already one of the best passers in the world, also capable of threading the ball in behind opposition backlines while carrying the ball at a level akin to a talented attacking left-back.
Physically as well, Josko Gvardiol is not only quick but is an absolute specimen, which allows him to defend in wider areas proficiently as a left-sided centre-back in a back three or at left-back, making him the most complete player in his position at his age bar none.
