Chris Sutton has said that in his opinion, Marcus Rashford would not get into the Manchester City side.
The pundit made this claim on the Daily Mail’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast.
Interestingly, in November, Tim Sherwood admitted that he believes Marcus Rashford has the quality to play for the Sky Blues.
Chris Sutton says Marcus Rashford would not start for Manchester City
Rashford is having quite an underwhelming season, after having registered 30 goals and 11 assists across all competitions during the previous campaign.
After all, the 26-year-old was benched by Erik ten Hag in Manchester United’s previous two fixtures against Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth, which indicates that he may have lost his place in his side’s starting XI.
Chris Sutton believes that Marcus Rashford would not have a shot at becoming a starter for Manchester City.

“I don’t think he’d get in ahead of Doku”, Sutton told the Daily Mail’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast.
Marcus Rashford would struggle to start ahead of both Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish
As Chris Sutton said, Jeremy Doku would keep Marcus Rashford out of the Manchester City side.
Unlike Rashford, Doku excels when it comes to taking on defenders, which is a fundamental skill that every natural winger must have in their locker.
Regardless of whether the youngster gets a goal or an assist in a game, he is guaranteed to have a major impact on City’s performance, while the opposite seems to be the case with Rashford.
Even defensively, Jeremy Doku is far more industrious than the Europa League winner.
On the whole, the Belgian ticks a lot more boxes in his game when likened to Marcus Rashford and even Manchester City aside, the former would start for most teams ahead of the latter.
Similarly, Jack Grealish helps the treble-winners control games in a manner that a direct winger like Marcus Rashford would struggle to.
The former played a huge role in City dismantling the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid last season, as he knows exactly when to keep the ball and when to have a more proactive approach in possession.
Defensively, if Jeremy Doku is superior to Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish is simply on another level, as his out-of-possession work may be one of the best out of any forward in the world.
As a result, Rashford would struggle to leapfrog either of the City duo to start in their side.
