Manchester City have some of the best players in Europe in their squad.
In the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings, City had six players from their squad ranked in the top 30, five of which made the top 10.
More recently, after lifting their fourth consecutive Premier League trophy, the Manchester club had more players (14) from their ranks picked to feature in the 2024 European Championship than any other top-flight side.
Now though, a Premier League star has pinpointed one figure in Pep Guardiola’s ranks as being particularly impressive in one specific aspect of the game.

Christian Eriksen picks Kevin De Bruyne as one of the best passers in the world
Featuring in a recent video shared on the Goal TikTok channel, Christian Eriksen was asked to build his ultimate footballer by picking certain players based on who he thinks has the best attributes such as right foot, left foot, pace, strength, passing, skills and football intelligence.
When asked to pick a player he thinks has the best passing ability, the Manchester United midfielder chose Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne’s passing has been very beneficial for City
With 382 appearances for the Citizens under his belt across all competitions, De Bruyne has provided 170 assists in total.
In fact, only Ryan Giggs (162) has more assists in Premier League history than the Belgian (112) who Guardiola dubbed “remarkable” (via Man City) back in April last year.
Even though the midfielder only appeared in 18 league games last season, he still managed to end the campaign with the fourth-highest number of key passes (59) in the City squad, more than the likes of Rodri (49), Jeremy Doku (45) and Jack Grealish (26).
This isn’t the first time a Premier League player not connected to City has praised De Bruyne’s passing ability as Anthony Gordon said that he would love to sign the 33-year-old for Newcastle United so he could be the one to be on the end of his key passes.
Taking all of that on board, it should come as no surprise to any City supporter that Eriksen picked the midfield star for his passing ability in this instance.
