It has been reported that Manchester City-linked wonderkid Warren Zaire-Emery is set to sign a contract extension with PSG.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed in September that the English juggernaut were keen on bringing in the 17-year-old when the Ligue 1 winners approached them to sign Bernardo Silva.

Now, it seems like Manchester City could see their hopes dashed of signing Warren Zaire-Emery, who may be on the verge of penning a new contract with PSG.

Fabrizio Romano: Manchester City target Warren Zaire-Emery set to sign new PSG contract

Branded as ‘exceptional’ by Thierry Henry (via One Football), the Frenchman is easily one of the most talented youngsters in the world.

Despite being a teenager, the elegant midfielder has started in every game for the Parisians in Ligue 1 this season.

Now, it has been revealed that PSG are ‘close’ to reaching an agreement over a brand-new contract with Manchester City-linked technician Warren Zaire-Emery.

In fact, the highly-rated talent is believed to be considered as the ‘perfect face’ of the club’s project, with there being ‘no truth’ to any links about a swap deal as he is viewed as a ‘key player.’

Warren Zaire-Emery would have become a superstar under Pep Guardiola

While the news about Warren Zaire-Emery being on the cusp of signing a new contract at PSG is not the end of the world for the treble-winners, the prospect of him being coached by Pep Guardiola was an exciting one.

The Catalan tactician’s track record of working with young players speaks for itself and the manner in which he pushes midfielders to unlock new levels is second to none.

A prime example of this is Sergio Busquets, who was promoted to Barcelona’s first-team by Pep Guardiola himself.

The possibility of a prospect like Warren Zaire-Emery working under one of, if not the greatest manager of all time was one that rightly should have excited the Sky Blues fanbase.
