With Friday’s deadline day fast approaching, Manchester City will now be working intensely behind the scenes to make the sales they wish to.

Selling players is a long-drawn process but City would mostly have a clear idea on which remaining players they are ready to let go this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side always seem open to making sales to ensure the size of their squad is not bloated and additionally, the players they tend to send out on loan potentially have a long-term future at the club.

Other players, on the other hand, seem to be informed that they are not in the immediate or the long-term plans at the Etihad Stadium.

The Sky Blues will perhaps also been encouraged to make sales to ensure that if a player catches their eye, the club can fund a move for him.

Joao Cancelo is one player who seems set to leave the club, with the Saudi Pro League rumoured to be his next move in question.

Fabrizio Romano shares Joao Cancelo to Al Hilal update

On Thursday, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Al Hilal had launched a bid for Cancelo.

It was also reported that Al Hilal had agreed a deal to sign Cancelo worth £33 million – who Bernardo Silva labelled as an “amazing player” via Manchester City’s official website.

After Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte, another City player could be heading to Saudi Arabia.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that as Al Hilal have reached a verbal agreement over a €25 million (£21.1 million) deal with Manchester City to sign Cancelo — the final decision lies in the player’s hands.

Jorge Jesus’ side are even believed to have offered the Portuguese full-back a net salary worth €15 million (£12.6 million).

Romano has stated that Cancelo will decide his future soon now.

Man City will be hoping Joao Cancelo says yes to Al Hilal move

Manchester City will likely be hoping Cancelo agrees to the move and his future can finally be resolved.

After both Bayern Munich and Barcelona have decided not to sign the versatile right-back permanently, City would have been delighted to discover Al Hilal’s interest in him.

But as Romano stated, the move will only occur if Cancelo says yes to joining the Saudi Arabian giants.

Manchester City will realise that with the former Juventus defender now being 30, he is a depreciating asset and as a result, the club will potentially be unable to earn as much of a fee next summer if he decides not to depart.
