Ajax are determined to keep Gabriel Misehouy away from Manchester City as interest from the treble winners continues.

That is according to Tim van Duijn of Voetbal International.

So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Gabriel Misehouy? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to Algemeen Dagblad in the Netherlands – Ajax are struggling to convince the attacking midfielder to sign a new contract.

The Dutch news outlet believe things have only become more difficult for Ajax as Manchester City are interested in Misehouy.

Now, Van Duijn has delivered an update on the 18-year-old.

The journalist wrote: “Ajax hopes to keep Gabriel Misehouy out of the hands of Manchester City. The player himself wants nothing more than to succeed in Amsterdam.

“Although Manchester City are attracted to him, it is expected that Ajax will want to reach an agreement with him in the short term.”

Clearly, the Netherlands Under-19 international wants to become a success at Ajax, which doesn’t offer much encouragement to Manchester City.

Nevertheless, that was to be expected – the Guardian believe Misehouy comes from a family who love Ajax and support the Dutch giants passionately.

That same story shares a quote from the Manchester City target’s siblings, who describe him as a “diamond” of a footballer.

Misehouy has impressively scored five goals – while also providing two assists – in just eight Keuken Kampioen Divisie appearances so far this season.

Manchester City could still sign Gabriel Misehouy

Manchester City still have a shot at signing Misehouy despite his love for Ajax – purely due to the fact the Dutch giants are in disarray.

Ajax find themselves 11th in the Eredivisie and have just sacked Sven Mislintat from his role as Director of Football.

Van Duijn also mentioned that “things have come to a standstill” in that department with no replacement found as of yet – meaning negotiations with Misehouy have also stagnated, which will concern Ajax given the fact his contract expires in June.

Therefore, Txiki Begiristain has a small window of opportunity here if the Spaniard can get it right.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen.
