Club have now withdrawn from negotiations with Man City for £35m star

One club are reported to have withdrawn from negotiations with Manchester City after failing with their latest bid.

City have offloaded five players so far this window, but they have all been youngsters, plus fringe player Sergio Gomez.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle, Lewis Fiorini and Liam Delap have all departed, but Pep Guardiola is yet to lose any of his big hitters from the first-team.

But one man who there has been a lot of speculation about in recent weeks is Ederson.

The Brazil international has been a target for Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassri showing the most interest in recent days. They have been ready to offer the City number one a whopping £900,000 per week.

But there hasn’t been an agreement between the two clubs, and now it looks like a potential deal could be in jeopardy.

It was claimed last night by journalist Rudy Galetti that Al-Nassr have now withdrawn from the negotiations with City.

City did not accept the club’s latest offer for the South American, with Galetti going as far as to declare that ‘it’s off’.

He adds that three days ago, a bid of around £25 million was sent by the club, and that personal terms have been agreed since the beginning of July.

Al-Nassr were even said last week to have been hopeful of typing up this deal ‘within a week’.

But it now looks like the move won’t happen. Or it has at least hit the rocks for now, with the Saudi club clearly needing to offer a lot more money.

Meanwhile, Ederson was one of a handful of players to return to the CFA as City get their pre-season underway.

Pep Guardiola has afforded more time off to players who went deep in international tournaments, but Brazil’s exit to Uruguay in the quarter-final in the Copa America means Ederson is already back.

Potential big boost for City

So it looks like it could be over for Al-Nassr regarding their pursuit of Ederson.

It really would be a boost for City if he stayed this summer. Ederson has been a fantastic signing since coming in for around £35 million in the summer of 2017.

He may not be the greatest shot-stopper in the game – although he is still great in this aspect – but the 30-year-old is the best ball-playing goalkeeper around and is integral to the way City play out from the back.

His passing range is absolutely insane, and to have someone who can play balls and break lines like him is really invaluable.

We will see if there are any more twists and turns. But the claim from Galetti last night is quite a significant one.
