Cole Palmer has left Manchester City to join Chelsea – and the youngster has just made an emotional post on Instagram.

Palmer has moved on to pastures new, after struggling for game time at the Etihad Stadium.

The 21-year-old has been in and around the first-team for a while now.

But he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular under Pep Guardiola.

He has shown real promise, but hasn’t quite been able to convince the manager to start him every game.

On Wednesday, Chelsea came calling and by the evening City and Chelsea had reached an agreement for his transfer.

Palmer has now sent an emotional message to City fans ahead of his exit…

Taking to Instagram this morning, Palmer shared a video montage and said: “Manchester City has been a part of my life for 15 years and it’s all I’ve ever known since the age of 6.

“I have been very lucky to work with some amazing people along the way. To the coaches the staff, the physios and to all the people behind the scenes. I am very grateful and just want to thank you for helping me become who I am today.

“Also I would like to thank my team mates for the most amazing memories we created on and off the pitch together. I will never forget them, it was an honour to play with you all and I wish you all the best of luck.

“Thank you to Pep Guardiola and his staff for the opportunity’s to play for this amazing club and giving me the memories only a small few can ever dream of, I will be forever grateful.

“Finally to the fans, thanks for all the support you have shown me as one of your own. @mancity will always hold a special place in my heart. All the best. Cole.”

Palmer’s move to Chelsea has now been officially announced by both clubs.

All the best, Cole

This is a lovely and classy post from Palmer ahead of his move to Chelsea.

It really is a shame to see him depart the club, which he clearly absolutely loves.

Hopefully he can make a real success of his move to Chelsea, although hopefully City do not come to regret his exit.

Palmer will now hopefully have the chance to get the regular minutes he craves.

He is a brilliant player, and could really develop well under Mauricio Pochettino.
