Stefan Ortega has now revealed that he is loving life at Manchester City – amid talk of the treble winners wanting to hand him a new contract.

The 30-year-old spoke to Sports Illustrated about his time at the Etihad Stadium so far.

So, what did Stefan Ortega say about Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the German arrived at Manchester City from Arminia Bielefeld on a free transfer back in July 2022.

Ortega has only made 17 appearances as he plays second fiddle to Ederson, although he still seems to be enjoying his time at Manchester City regardless.

The Manchester City No.18 said: “Winning my first trophy as a starting goalkeeper in the FA Cup was my highlight this year. My assessment in my new home is entirely positive. I feel very comfortable here, my wife Sabina and our daughter are also doing really well.”

Ortega – who recently heaped praise on Ederson – has never previously played his football outside of Germany, so it was a big step for him to take his family to a new country.

Nevertheless, the Hofgeismar-born glovesman has looked very settled in his 17 appearances for Manchester City, playing with the composure of someone who has been in Manchester for years.

Manchester City want new contract for Stefan Ortega

As aforesaid, Manchester City are hoping to extend Ortega’s contract.

A story from The Athletic claims that the treble winners want to tie the German down to a longer deal as a result of his fine performances when called upon.

Ortega will only have 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of this season, so you can understand why Manchester City want to extend his deal.

Hopefully, negotiations between Manchester City and Ortega run smoothly, as it would be a real shame to lose someone who is arguably the best No.2 in the Premier League, if not Europe.
