Conor Coady has said that Bernardo Silva could be the best player in the Premier League currently.
On BBC Radio 5 Live Sport’s The Monday Night Club (27/11/2023), the Leicester City defender was full of praise for Silva after his stunning display in Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Saturday.
Conor Coady says Bernardo Silva could be the best player in the Premier League right now
The 29-year-old has been in scintillating touch this season, with Joleon Lescott likening him to David Silva after his brace against Bournemouth in November.
Jamie Carragher said that any team in the world would welcome the Portuguese international into their ranks with open arms as well.
Conor Coady was quizzed about whether Manchester City maestro Bernardo Silva is the Premier League’s best player currently and he was on board with this claim.

“First and foremost, what a player. I think it’s hard to argue against that if I’m being honest. We’ll all say other names or we’ll all say certain players but I think his consistency sets him apart a little bit as well. You know what you’re going to get from him every single game”, he said on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport’s The Monday Night Club.
Coady added, “I think when you look at Bernardo Silva, you look at him like and you go, ‘Oh, he’s a No.10.’ He’s far from that. There’s been games, I think I mentioned it to you before Chappers [Mark Chapman], there’s been games I’ve played against him where he’s receiving the ball off the ‘keeper.”
“He’s going next to the ‘keeper and receiving the ball, so I think he’s got absolutely everything, whether that be on the ball or off the ball.”
The Manchester City technician has been right up there
It’s next to impossible to disagree with Conor Coady as Bernardo Silva has been sensational for Manchester City this campaign.
The other candidates for this very title include the likes of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Rodri, Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison, Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins to name a few.
However, where the treble-winner has perhaps ousted most of these names is in the big games this season.
Against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, the decorated attacker has been arguably the best player on the pitch on each of these occasions.
Even though Bernardo Silva has been on the same pitch as a series of world-class players on both sides, he has looked like a level above the rest.
This tends to separate the good from the great players, which the ex-AS Monaco technician has been for years and has shown to be once again for Pep Guardiola’s side.
