Manchester City saw a significant number of their players involved in the 2024 European Championship over the summer.
In fact, City had more players (14) from their squad feature in the tournament than any other Premier League side.
However, certain figures from Pep Guardiola’s weren’t picked to feature for their countries.
Now that the 2024/25 season has got underway, a pundit has made a claim that should delight one of big-name players at City who has had his fair share of difficulties over the past year.

Danny Murphy makes a claim on Jack Grealish’s England future
When asked in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel if he thinks Jack Grealish has a chance of getting selected in Lee Carsley’s England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland next month, Danny Murphy had this to say in response.
He said: “I think he’s worked with Jack before as well.
“So that’s a benefit for Jack but again, he’s not been playing. So it would seem strange to put players in who haven’t been playing but depends on who’s fit and who’s available, who’s injured.
“I don’t know the number who’s going to be available if any pullouts but Jack will, if he gets playing again, be in his thoughts because he knows him so well.”
An England call up would be a great confidence booster for Grealish
After only starting 10 of the 20 Premier League games he appeared in for City last season, Grealish was not selected to be in England’s squad for the Euros.
Back in July, Grealish admitted that he wants to use the disappointment of not getting picked for the England squad as motivation to do his best this season.
Unfortunately for him, an injury led to the £300k-a-week winger missing City’s Community Shield win over Manchester United.
Since then, Grealish has only played 19 minutes of action across City’s opening two league games of the season which came in the second half of their recent 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
Now that Murphy has claimed that the City attacker could benefit from his previous experience with Carsley, if Grealish were to be picked and feature for England in their upcoming matches, this would give him a great boost to his confidence.
