Man City’s Jack Grealish suggests he really wants to prove one man wrong next season

Jack Grealish seems like he is ready to redeem himself next season.

Pep Guardiola recently revealed that Grealish’s mentality has been brilliant in pre-season — similar to that of Manchester City’s treble-winning season when he was a regular starter and in excellent form.

Gabby Agbonlahor claimed the Manchester City winger is working extremely hard in pre-season — using fitness coaches and personal trainers to be as well-prepared as possible for the 2024/2025 campaign.

After Grealish’s role in City’s treble-winning season, it seemed like he would kick on and emerge as one of his team’s best players once again.

But injuries, off-the-field issues and a potential lack of discipline led the Englishman to lose his place in the Sky Blues XI.

Jack Grealish hints at firing back at Gareth Southgate with his performances

As a result, the £100 million man was eventually dropped for England’s squad for Euro 2024, with the likes of Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon preferred over him him.

Unlike Grealish, Eze and Gordon were coming off the back of terrific seasons for Crystal Palace and Newcastle United respectively.

The three-time Premier League, winner has reflected on how difficult it was to be dropped from the Three Lions squad while suggesting that he aims to prove Gareth Southgate wrong with his displays next season.

Grealish said via HaytersTV: “I felt like I should have been in the squad. I’m sure every person that didn’t get picked in the squad, whether that’s myself or any of the other players would have thought the same.”

“If I sit here and say that I don’t feel like I should have been in the squad, you’re going to be thinking, ‘what’s he thinking?’ So, of course, I thought I should’ve been in the squad, I felt like I offer something different to players in the England squad but listen, it is what it is.”

Grealish aims to use his disappointment to push him towards having a brilliant season for Manchester City and in turn, hinting that he intends to make a mockery of Southgate’s decision to axe him.

“Like I said, it was the hardest moment for me as a footballer, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career but yeah, it was difficult but like I said, I want to use that as motivation now going forward into this season and hopefully I can prove some people wrong.”

Jack Grealish is entering the 2024/2025 season with a brilliant mentality

Instead of merely being gutted over Gareth Southgate’s decision, as Grealish stated, he aims to channel his disappointment towards having an excellent season for City.

The 28-year-old’s mentality heading into the 2024/2025 season is brilliant.

Judging by how much Grealish seems to be working to better himself behind the scenes, he seems immensely determined.

However, it is high-time that the former Aston Villa captain puts all the doubts surrounding him since signing for Manchester City to bed.

Grealish has the quality and experience to redeem himself.

With the added motivation of potentially making Southgate regret his decision, he is in the perfect state of mind to bounce back like never before.
