Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on whether Manchester City or Manchester United had a greater treble-winning season.
The renowned pundit wrote in his column for The Telegraph, after Pep Guardiola was branded as the ‘best coach of all time’ by Rio Ferdinand.
Now, Jamie Carragher has given his two cents about whether Manchester City have also had a superior treble-winning campaign to Manchester United in 1999.

Since the Sky Blues beat Inter Milan to match their local rivals’ standalone accomplishment, this debate has been omnipresent in the football space.
While many believe this current City side is better than United’s in 1999, there are also several fans and pundits alike that believe Ferguson’s team beat better sides in Europe.
Jamie Carragher, however is firmly of the opinion that this current Manchester City side have eclipsed Manchester United and their treble-winning side from 24 years ago.
“The argument about whether City’s treble winners are better than Ferguson’s of 1999 should be over, too. This City team is on a different level. City left Istanbul amid a sense of beginning in Europe rather than mere completion of their Abu Dhabi owners’ ultimate ambition.”
Jamie Carragher continued when explaining why this current Manchester City treble is better than that of Manchester United, writing, “After the treble of 1999, Ferguson would wait another nine years to lift the European Cup, his side successful in the Champions League without dominating it. City can leave every rival in their wake. A dynasty is forming at City under Guardiola.”
