Manchester City have officially completed a move for Josko Gvardiol after a long pursuit.

The Croatia international signed yesterday, after City reached a £77.5 million agreement with RB Leipzig earlier this week.

It is a statement signing by City.

Gvardiol has the potential to become the best centre-half in the world.

The club were sold at the back in the last few months of 2023/24.

But they have still gone out and landed Gvardiol.

Yesterday John Stones sent a welcome message to his new teammate on Instagram.

And Gvardiol has also now received a message from one of his former teammates.

Gvardiol is a big loss for Leipzig.

The 21-year-old had developed amazingly there since his arrival from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020.

Gvardiol was also a popular member of the squad.

But one man who was quite pleased to see him leave and join City in the Premier League was Dominik Szoboszlai.

Szoboszlai also made his way to the English top-flight this summer, joining Liverpool in a £60 million deal.

Szoboszlai knows how good Gvardiol is

Rivalry is football is a lot different now compared to what it was 10 or 15 years ago.

So this public comment from Szoboszlai shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, even though he now plays for Liverpool.

Szoboszlai knows where it’s at with Gvardiol.

Szoboszlai spent two years at the German club, so has a pretty good idea of the Croatian’s qualities.

Hopefully, he the defender is now able to live up to the hype.
