Two of Emile Heskey’s sons, Jaden and Reigan, are making waves at Manchester City’s academy.

Emile Heskey enjoyed a fruitful career in the Premier League in the late 1990s and 2000s, and also won 62 caps for England.

Now, sons Jaden Heskey and Reigan Heskey are making a big impression in Manchester City’s youth setup and look like they have bright futures in the game.

Emile, speaking on the Beast Mode On Podcast, made a big admission about Jaden and Reigan that bodes well for their futures at City.

Emile Heskey says Jaden and Reigan ‘know everything’ about football

Emile explained how both Jaden and Reigan have a much better understanding of the game than he did when he was a teenager.

Indeed, Emile revealed how he asked one of his sons a number of questions relating to coaching and tactics, and the youngster got them all spot on.

“The funny thing is, if you look at them, one is really good at dribbling and he wants to take players on,” Emile began.

“And the other one is just a solid… and he – don’t get me wrong, he’s really good at dribbling, but the work rate is there.

“And I said, ‘whose career is it? not mine’. They’ve got to go and do it.

“When I look at them, they’re further ahead than I was when I started in the first team – mentally, understanding of football, because I learned a lot of mine when I was on the job, whereas they already know everything.

“I remember going to my son when he was what, 16? ‘Oh if you’ve got three defenders, how do you close them down? ‘We do this, this, this…’

“I’m asking four or five questions and he’s giving me the answers straight away. I wouldn’t even be able to do that. I would’ve just said, ‘erm… just run around!'”

Jaden Heskey and Reigan Heskey’s styles of play

Jaden, 19, is a versatile player who largely features in central midfield but can also play at No. 6, No. 10 and up front.

He made 32 appearances for City’s academy last season, registering three goals and six assists.

Jaden has been described by the City website as a ‘powerful, versatile striker’ who is ‘capable across the front line, with a natural ability to link the play as well as score goals.’

Meanwhile, Reigan is a 17-year-old who mostly plays as a left-winger, though he can also feature on the opposite flank.

Reigan enjoyed a wonderful season last term, registering 27 goals and nine assists from 41 outings, including three goals and one assist from three Premier League 2 outings.

He has been described by the City website as a ‘quick, powerful winger’ who has developed an ‘eye-catching style of play.’

The site continued: ‘Athletically, Heskey shows great promise and can be a handful for defenders.

‘In the final third, Reigan is dangerous and provides a strong impact on games with a moment of brilliance.

‘He can create and convert his own chances in a variety of scenarios or tee up his team-mates who deal the final blow.’
