Erling Haaland issues 18-word plan of action after Man City lose third match in a row

Manchester City have seen their strong start to the 2024/25 season hit a few speed bumps recently.

Having made it to late October without losing a game in all competitions, City have now lost three games in a row for the first time since 2018.

After being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola saw his side lose their first Premier League match of the season with a 2-1 defeat away at Bournemouth.

Their most recent match saw City pick up their first defeat in the Champions League where they blew a 1-0 lead to fall to a demoralising 4-1 loss against Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP.

With Bernardo Silva claiming City are in a “dark place” at the moment, another figure from City’s squad has shared his thoughts on the club’s current situation.

Erling Haaland shares social media post after third Man City loss

On Wednesday, Erling Haaland said this in a post on his official X account regarding City’s defeat in Portugal and what their next steps will be.

He said: “Only one way to move on from last night – work even harder and come back fighting from this.”

Danny Murphy backs City to land crucial win against Brighton

With Haaland claiming that the best way for City to get over their trio of defeats is to move on and work harder in their next game, their best opportunity to do that would be by securing a win in this weekend’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion.

On the subject of this upcoming match, Danny Murphy gave his Man City vs Brighton prediction, saying this about what he thinks will happen in Saturday’s match on the south coast.

He said: “I think they’ll go to Brighton at the weekend and beat them. I think they’ll all have a kick up the backside. He’ll put [Kevin] De Bruyne back in, he’ll put [Kyle] Walker back in, he’ll put [Nathan] Ake back in, he’ll put [Ilkay] Gundogan back in.

“Because they were all on the bench last night to get back with the squad, even if they’re not 100%, he’ll put them in. What the best players do and the best managers do is they respond.”

A victory against the Seagulls would undoubtedly ease the pain of having seen City lose three in a row, especially since it’s the last match to be played before the November international break.

From Haaland’s point of view, the fact that he missed a penalty against Sporting and fluffed other goalscoring chances he had in the game, he’ll presumably be desperate to find the back of the net against Brighton and help his side put an end to their losing streak.
