Barcelona want to sign Valentin Barco, but it is very likely that the left-back will end up at Manchester City.
That is according to Sport.
So, what is the latest on Valentin Barco and Manchester City? Let’s take a look….
What’s the story?
Well, according to Sport, both Manchester City and Barcelona want to sign Valentin Barco.
Barco plays as a left-back and is on the books of Boca Juniors at the moment.
However, the teenager is not expected to stay at the Argentine giants for long.
According to Sport, although Barcelona are keen on Barco, “everything indicates” that there is already an agreement with Manchester City “for a very low figure”.
The Spanish publication has claimed that the teenager has made it clear if he is to move to Europe, then he wants to join a club where he would get the chance to compete for a spot in the starting lineup.
Manchester City target Valentin Barco is highly rated
Now, there is always scepticism when young players come over to mainland Europe or to the Premier League from South American countries.
It is not always easy for young players coming over from South America to adjust and adapt to the football in the Premier League.
However, Julian Alvarez has shown that if you are good enough and talented enough, then you can carve out a place for yourself in any top team in Europe.

Even in a team where Erling Haaland is the undisputed main striker.
I believe that Valentin Barco could follow a similar trajectory.
The Argentine is just 19 now, so, of course, we need to be patient with him, if he did move to City.
But, there is no doubt that Barco is hugely talented and has a lot of potential.
Just listen to what the great Juan Roman Riquelme had to say about the left-back recently.
Riquelme, a former Argentina international attacking midfielder, starred for Villarreal and also turned out for Barcelona.
The 45-year-old is now the vice president of Boca Juniors.
The Argus quoted Riquelme as saying about Barco in August 2023: “He is a cheeky lad. We are here to accompany and take care of the boys.
“For them it is a dream to be training every day with players like (Dario) Benedetto, (Marcos) Rojo, (Edinson) Cavani, (Sergio) Romero.
“They have to learn from the greatest because it will help them a lot.
“Barco is a technically very good player and we are very happy to have him with us.”
