Manchester City lost against Arsenal, but one of the best players on the pitch at the Emirates Stadium this past Sunday was Kyle Walker.
Kyle Walker is 33 years of age now, but the former Tottenham Hotspur right-back is still going strong and remains a key figure for Manchester City.
Walker has made eight appearances in the Premier League for City so far this season.
The £175,000-a-week (Spotrac) England international has given one assist in those games.
The City no. 2 made 22 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League and made three starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League last season.
Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season.
Praise for Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker vs Arsenal
Walker was brilliant for City against Arsenal, and David Hillier was impressed.
The former Arsenal midfielder has noted that despite being in his mid-30s, Walker is still an “exceptional” player and has frightening pace.
Hillier said about Walker on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel: “Kyle Walker is in exceptional form.
“He offers you out every time you have got the ball.
“He says, ‘Come and run at me then. I will take you on for pace’.
“And, for an old fella, mate, he has still got it.”
My View: Kyle Walker is still a world-class player
In my opinion, Kyle Walker is still a world-class player.
There are not too many right-backs in the world at the moment who are better than the Manchester City star.
Walker does not appear to have slowed down despite being 33 now.
And, that he is playing regularly for a City team who are (arguably?) the best in the world shows just how good he is.
I believe that Walker will be a big player for City this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side are aiming to win the Premier League title yet again this season.
City fans will also expect the team to win the UEFA Champions League this campaign, or at least reach the semi-finals or the final.
