Manchester City News can exclusively reveal that Stefan Ortega is considering his future away from the Etihad Stadium.

Ortega aims to be Manchester City’s number one but with Ederson Moraes recently pledging his future to Pep Guardiola’s side, the German’s dream may remain unfulfilled.

As things stand, Ortega’s contract at Manchester City expires in 2026 and the Sky Blues will have to determine whether to keep him for another season and risk losing him for free or move the goalkeeper on if he decides to cut ties.

Pep Guardiola seems to have always rated the former Arminia Bielefeld shotstopper highly since his arrival in 2022.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has been notified that Stefan Ortega’s camp are already looking at several clubs where their client could play their football if he leaves Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola called Ortega “exceptional” and based on his performances for City over the past three seasons, he could very well become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.

Ederson admitted he was disappointing last season but even so, Manchester City News have been told that he could be rewarded with a contract extension beyond 2026.

Stefan Ortega could sign for a Premier League club

However, the Brazilian’s performances for Manchester City have been far from convincing at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The 31-year-old was culpable for Teun Koopeminers’ goal after accidentally playing the ball in his path and against Al-Hilal, the six-time Premier League winner was culpable for Marcus Leonardo two goals.

Ederson parried the ball into Leonardo’s path for his second goal and for the striker’s first strike, the goalkeeper could not direct a weak cross away from the Brazilian forward.

As for Ortega, he is open to a Premier League move as the Manchester City number two harbours the ambition of being the first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.

If the opportunity arrives at his doorstep, the 32-year-old could end up saying yes.
