Pep Guardiola has faced off against multiple managers during his time at Manchester City.
Earlier this month, City took on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
With a 2-1 defeat, Guardiola saw his side lose their fourth consecutive match for the first time ever.
It also saw him face off against Fabian Hurzeler for the first time, making it a historical match for both managers but for different reasons.
More recently, The Athletic reported that Guardiola has agreed a one-year contract extension with the option for an extra year.
Officially, the Catalan’s deal at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire in June, but this reported extension would see him take his tenure at the Manchester club to 10 years before having the option to stay for another.
Off the back of this news, the Brighton boss has shared his thoughts on the matter following his big victory over the City manager.

Fabian Hurzeler reacts to Pep Guardiola contract extension news
Speaking in his recent press conference (via BBC Sport) ahead of Brighton’s Premier League match against Bournemouth, Hurzeler said this when asked about the news concerning Guardiola and a potential contract extension.
“It’s the best thing that can happen to the Premier League because in the end, he is one of the best coaches in the world.
“With his ideas, he always brings something new to the football stage and it is always a challenge to compete against him. He always adapts quickly, always has new ideas and he can always win the game.
“I’m very happy that he will hopefully extend his contract because we can learn from him and to compete with him is a big, big experience.”
Danny Murphy reckons City’s rivals won’t be pleased with Guardiola signing an extension
Other top-flight managers may not share the same view as Hurzeler, as Danny Murphy predicted how City’s rivals would have reacted to hearing the news of Guardiola’s contract extension.
He said: “Well, from a footballing perspective, you’d say for the rest it’s bad news. You wouldn’t think anybody else out there could come in and maintain the levels he seems to be able to produce season in and season out.
“So everyone else probably took a big sigh when they heard that this morning or last night whenever it came out and thought, oh it’s going to carry on.”
| Matches | Won | Drawn | Lost | Players Used | Trophies Won | |
| Pep Guardiola | 490 | 360 | 60 | 70 | 91 | 16 |
With Hurzeler now sharing how happy he’d be to see Guardiola continue his journey with the Blues and highlighting how he can learn from seeing the six-time Premier League winner work, this showcases how much he admires the City boss.
However, this will not likely stop Guardiola from wanting to see his side get revenge on Brighton in their next league meeting between the two clubs later this season.
