Fabrizio Romano: Man City ready to trigger release clause to sign £6 million Argentine wonderkid

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Man City are set to trigger the £6.6 million release clause to sign Maximo Perrone from Velez Sarsfield.

Man City set to trigger Maximo Perrone release clause

Romano has further stated that he will announce his signature “Here we go” regarding the deal involving Perrone, which implies that the deal will be all but confirmed after his release clause is triggered.

The Italian journalist has also reported that the 19-year-old will join Man City after the Sudamericana Sub 20 (South American U-20 Championship).

When will Maximo Perrone join Man City?

As per Romano’s claims, it seems as if Maximo Perrone will join Man City after the tournament involving the best South American youth talents comes to an end, which will only happen in February 2023.

The competition will run from January 19 to February 12.

Maximo Perrone position

Maximo Perrone started his career as a winger, according to GOAL.

However, it has been stated that Perrone went on to operate as a deep-lying midfielder.

The report states that the teenage sensation has the unique ability of dictating games from a deep position, whilst also being a final third thread.

It is due to this very reason that Maximo Perrone has been compared to similar world-class midfielders such as Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde.

This potential Maximo signing could be Julian Alvarez 2.0

When Julian Alvarez signed from River Plate in January, many did not bat an eyelid.

The Argentine striker seemed like a typical project signing, who may or may not blossom into a top player.

However, Alvarez instantly proved his mettle for City, and went on to spearhead his nation’s World Cup win alongside Lionel Messi.

The same could be the case with Maximo Perrone at Man City, after the club finally trigger his release clause, especially if he is added to the sides’ elite collective of midfielders, with Bernardo Silva also reported not to be joining Barcelona recently.

If Pep Guardiola reckons Perrone is ready, you could be looking at a potential household name.
