With Pep Guardiola looking like he has extended his contract until 2026 at Manchester City, their Premier League title rivals have every reason to be devastated.
Despite City not looking at their best currently, the latest update surrounding Guardiola and his future could motivate him to win his fifth title in a row.
Furthermore, Manchester City could even win six consecutive titles with the Catalan at their disposal.

After all, there is an option in Pep Guardiola’s deal to extend his contract by an additional year — which is daunting prospect for other clubs dreaming of winning the league.
The Etihad Stadium will be a happy place upon the resumption of club football.
The prospect of Guardiola staying for one more full season alongside the ongoing campaign while completing a decade at City are two reasons why the supporters would be over the moon.

Amorim and Alonso not considered for Man City job before new Guardiola contract
Manchester City would have been hoping to keep Pep Guardiola at all costs.
In October, it was reported Manchester City considered Ruben Amorim and Xabi Alonso as potential successors to Guardiola if he left the club at the end of the season.
However, Fabrizio Romano has refuted such a claim by revealing that City did not even contact either Amorim or Alonso or any other manager to replace Pep Guardiola as they were “always confident” of keeping him.
Furthermore, Romano has claimed that the “internal feeling” at Manchester City was always that the six-time Premier League winner would stay beyond this campaign, despite Txiki Begiristain’s exit.
Last month, it emerged that Manchester City had stylistic concerns about Ruben Amorim and as a result, they did not consider him a viable appointment for the future.
However, it was reported that Manchester City had “concrete interest” in Xabi Alonso to succeed Pep Guardiola.
What Ruben Amorim and Xabi Alonso have said about Pep Guardiola
Ahead of Sporting CP’s 4-1 thrashing of the Sky Blues, Ruben Amorim sang Guardiola’s praises.
“For me, it’s another game as a Sporting coach and I will be judged as a Sporting coach. It’s a massive game. For me, he’s the best coach in the world. I know it’s tough for Manchester United fans and I think it’s the best team in the world.”
In 2016, Xabi Alonso lauded Pep Guardiola as well, who was his manager at Bayern Munich at the time.
Alonso told GOAL: “It might sound easy but I tell you, it’s not easy because Pep [Guardiola] is really, he’s really ahead of his time, he’s very demanding of himself and of his players.”
“During his time here, he has built something, he has built a style of play and I think not just myself, I think that many players, we have learned a lot, we have improved.”
Considering the admiration both Ruben Amorim and Xabi Alonso share in common for Pep Guardiola, they would have been unsurprised to have discovered that Manchester City’s priority was to tie him down to a brand-new contract.
