A fresh update has emerged about a certain Manchester City loanee.

Manchester City sent 13 players out on loan this summer.

The names include Yan Couto, Claudio Echeverri, Maximo Perrone, Kalvin Phillips, Jadel Katongo, Kayky, Issa Kabore, Callum Doyle, Finley Burns, Luke Mbete, Kian Breckin, Tomas Galvez and True Grant.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be hoping that the players in question develop elsewhere.

In the case of some of these players, the hope at City will be that they can become first-team members in the future.

Other players might have been sent out on loan due to the fact that they had no place at the Etihad Stadium.

For instance, Yan Couto is a player who was clearly not in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

In the summer, Couto signed for Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan with an obilgation-to-buy clause in his contract worth £25 million (BBC Sport).

The Brazilian has started in four out of six Bundesliga games for Nuri Sahin’s side this campaign.

The 22-year-old has picked up exactly where he left off from his previous loan stint at Girona by impressing in Germany.

The youngster is one of the best up-and-coming full-backs in the world and he is getting the chance to play regular football at Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola was seemingly happy to stick with Rico Lewis and Kyle Walker as his first-choice right-backs despite the former Curitiba defender’s impressive showings in Spain last season.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Borussia Dortmund had “triggered” the obligation to buy clause to sign Couto from Manchester City permanently.

Ideal for Man City and Yan Couto that Borussia Dortmund have completed move

Both Manchester City and Couto would have been delighted to discover that Borussia Dortmund were happy to trigger the clause in his contract to secure his services on a permanent basis.

The Premier League winners will be banking a pretty penny for a player who is yet to make a competitive appearance for the club.

Couto will be over the moon to have realised how highly Dortmund rate him to be willing to make his move permanent a couple of months into his move to the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund would have been happy to sign such a talented youngster as well.

Manchester City’s eye for talent is rarely ever off the mark and despite Couto’s potential, they would have felt like he is not a player they will regret selling.

With Lewis especially coming into his own this season, he was perhaps always meant to be City’s future starting right-back ever since he broke into the senior side in 2022.
