Based on Manchester City’s disappointing display in their 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola may feel that he needs more signings to tackle the ongoing season.
While one result should not necessarily dictate a club’s transfer plans, Manchester City cannot afford not to further strengthen their squad and risk the prospect of falling behind Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race.
PSG expect Gianluigi Donnarumma to join Manchester City — which indicates that the Sky Blues’ goalkeeping department could be bolstered before the end of the summer transfer window.
However, with Pep Guardiola being motivated for the new season, City would also like to match his ambition.

Man City are more likely to sign Rodrygo over Arsenal
Manchester City’s chances of signing Rodrygo have ended as they have informed Tottenham that they refuse to sell Savinho this summer — with the 21-year-old’s exit always determining their pursuit of the two-time Champions League winner.
Arsenal were targeting Rodrygo as well and as things stand, he remains a Real Madrid player.
Fabrizio Romano told the Men In Blazers podcast that that out of Manchester City and Arsenal, the Sky Blues have a better chance of landing Rodrygo: “For Rodrygo, the team that really wanted to sign Rodrygo and keep thinking about Rodrygo is Manchester City. Pep Guardiola in love with Rodrygo.”
“So, if there is one per cent chance for Rodrygo to go before the end of the window, is for Man City, from what I’m told, not for Arsenal.”
Rodrygo has already decided his future at Real Madrid
The Brazilian international’s addition would likely bolster most teams in the Premier League.
Rodrygo, who Jude Bellingham called “gifted” impressed against Real Oviedo on the left-wing recently and showed why teams across Europe are seemingly keen to sign him.

However, the bad news for Manchester City and Arsenal is that Rodrygo is set to stay at Real Madrid.
As Fabrizio Romano stated, if either side continue to pursue the 24-year-old’s signature, City would emerge as the victors.
