Manchester City remain highly interested in West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta and are continuing to work on that interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is the claim from journalist Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on the JD Football YouTube channel.
With the international break having now commenced, the transfer speculation has already started.
City are supposedly monitoring PSV Eindhoven youngster Johan Bakayoko, but there is also interest in Paqueta – a player the club were heavily linked with last summer.
This evening, Romano has shared what he knows of the situation involving Manchester City and Lucas Paqueta…
Fabrizio Romano ‘sure’ Manchester City are working on Lucas Paqueta interest

Paqueta was a player City looked at last summer and there is a feeling that the club would have done a deal with West Ham, had it not been for the FA probe into his alleged betting activity.
That investigation has still not yet concluded, although there have been whispers that Paqueta will be cleared.
Should that happen, City are likely to go back in for the £150,000-a-week player this summer.
Romano said on JD Football: “He remains one of the players they really appreciate. He was really close to joining City last summer. The deal was really, really advanced. They keep working on that deal in terms of interest.
“He’s still one of the players they appreciate. The relationship with West Ham is good. I’m sure they will discuss about it again this summer.”
Paqueta to Man City seems highly likely
Everything points to City signing Paqueta this summer.
The club really wanted him last summer but that betting probe situation stopped the club pressing ahead.
You would imagine City will definitely be back in for him once that investigation is officially over – seemingly from what Romano has said, they are already laying the groundwork for a summer swoop.
It would certainly be an exciting signing, with the Brazilian – branded ‘brilliant’ by former City striker Daniel Sturridge earlier this season – having been a standout player this season for the Hammers.
