Manchester City have a track record when it comes to signing young players from fellow English clubs.

For instance, City have signed youngsters such as Jamal Baptiste, Finley Gorman and Harrison Parker from a range of clubs across the country in recent years.

The Blues have also seen numerous academy players leave the Etihad Stadium this summer either on loan or on permanent deals such as Callum Doyle, Mahamadou Susoho and Micah Hamilton.

Now though, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding another young star the Citizens have landed a summer transfer deal for after making a name for himself in the youth ranks at another Premier League club.

Fabrizio Romano says Man City have agreed to sign Divin Mubama

In a recent post shared on his official X account, Fabrizio Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Manchester City reach agreement with West Ham for £1.2m compensation to sign 19-year-old Divin Mubama — here we go!

“Medical tests booked and Divin will sign a long-term deal, strategic deal from Man City. Exclusive story, confirmed.”

Mubama is a future star

In 91 combined appearances for West Ham’s U18 and U21 sides, the striker has found the back of the net 58 times and delivered seven assists.

Having made 18 senior appearances for the East London club, the 19-year-old scored one goal and supplied one assist.

The goal came during the Hammers’ 3-0 win over FCSB in the Conference League back in November 2022, before delivering his assist in their 4-0 win over AEK Larnaca in March 2023.

Taking this clear goalscoring prowess on board, it’s easy to see why City have pursued and now landed a deal for Mubama, who they must consider to be a future star to be spending this fee for his signature.

Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see whether the teenager gets the chance to get any minutes in Pep Guardiola’s side at any point in the future.
