Manchester City have a track record when it comes to signing top young players from foreign clubs.
For example, the previous summer transfer window saw City spend a significant amount of money to bring in Jeremy Doku from Rennes and Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.
In this current transfer period, Pep Guardiola’s side have been linked with numerous players across the top five European leagues.
In fact, a journalist has now revealed that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to beat the Manchester club to another one of Europe’s top young talents who has found himself on City’s transfer radar recently.

Fabrizio Romano says Paris Saint-Germain are desperate to sign Man City transfer target
In a recent post shared on his official X account, Fabrizio Romano had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to let Manu Ugarte leave with destination Manchester United as they want Joao Neves at all costs.
“After agreement Joao-PSG, talks are still ongoing with Benfica over fee. Man United and PSG also still in talks over Ugarte fee.”
City may have a tough challenge trying to sign Neves
At the age of 19, Neves, who has a release clause worth €120m (£100m), has made 75 senior appearances for Benfica across all competitions, scoring four goals and delivering three assists along the way from his defensive-midfield role.
Earlier this month, it was reported by O Jogo that City still have their eyes on the Benfica midfielder, despite the French club making a move to sign him.
A recent report from A Bola (via Sport Witness) has claimed that Neves is only considering joining PSG rather than City or their close rivals Manchester United.
With that in mind, despite Bernardo Silva recently saying he’d urge his Portugal teammate to join him at the Etihad Stadium, it seems that it could now be very difficult for the Blues to land a deal for Neves.
