In regards to some of the academy player who have left the club prior to this summer, one of them could now be set to make a return to England following his departure last year.

Wolves to target former Man City youth star as Pedro Neto replacement

Following the news that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves, Fabrizio Romano shared this update on his official X account regarding who the Midlands club have identified as a potential replacement for the Portuguese international.

He said: “EXCLUSIVE: Wolves target Ajax winger Carlos Forbs as replacement for Pedro Neto in case Chelsea deal will be completed.

“Forbs, on Wolverhampton shortlist as they start exploring options in case of Neto’s exit.”

Forbs could get a fresh start back in England

After joining City’s youth ranks back in 2014, the winger, who was known as Carlos Borges back then, went on to make 79 appearances for the Manchester club’s academy.

Having scored 55 goals and delivered 42 assists during his time with the Blues, the 20-year-old joined Ajax back in the previous summer transfer window.

In his debut season at the Dutch club, Forbs appeared in 32 senior games but only managed to find the back of the net three times and deliver five assists.

In the Eredivisie, the attacker, who said back in July last year that he greatly admired Fernandinho at City, only started eight of 21 games he appeared in and only featured in four of the last 15 matches of the campaign.

Therefore, a move back to England with Wolves could give the Portuguese youngster a fresh start and the chance to get his career back on track.
