Having conquered club football during his time at Manchester City, it will be interesting to see what kind of a move Kevin De Bruyne ends up favouring once he departs the Etihad Stadium.

On one hand, the Manchester City legend could simply bid farewell to European football and jet off to either the United States or Saudi Arabia or continue playing at the highest level.

De Bruyne was disappointed as City decided not to hand him a new contract and admitted he was stunned at being asked to let go after not being offered an extension.

Kevin De Bruyne has little to nothing left to prove in his career as he is a certified all-time great and despite being past his prime, the midfield maestro is likely to have several offers on his table.

Fabrizio Romano has now explained how the Belgian international feels about a potential move to Chicago Fire as the Major League Soccer (MLS) side are keen on his signature.

Kevin De Bruyne open to speaking to Chicago Fire about potential move

Romano revealed that De Bruyne is open to having a conversation with Chicago Fire about a move to the United States.

The reputed journalist claimed that while De Bruyne is yet to decide where he wishes to play his football after leaving Pep Guardiola’s side and Chicago Fire have not presented an offer to secure his services.

Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport’s Market Madness podcast: “It’s a concrete possibility. At this stage, we are not yet at anything like final or advanced, there is still a conversation, there’s still an approach from Chicago Fire but what I’m hearing is Kevin De Bruyne is quite open to speaking to them, to hear from them about the project, the idea, the vision they have.”

“Let’s remind that Chicago Fire already wanted to sign a superstar a months ago and the target was Neymar Jr. Then, Neymar decided to go back to Santos. Now, Kevin De Bruyne is a concrete option, so they’re going to push, they’re going to try also in the next days to convince Kevin De Bruyne. He’s going to also consider other opportunities, maybe Europe if some club can offer a good project, a good contract so I think it’s going to take some time before Kevin makes a decision because it’s also about his family, it’s also a life decision, not just a sporting decision.”

“But for sure, Chicago Fire want to try and Chicago Fire will be there.”

How Kevin De Bruyne feels about MLS move

As Fabrizio Romano stated, De Bruyne’s decision to move to Chicago Fire or any club for that matter will not merely be a sporting one.

The 33-year-old will have to take his personal life into consideration before taking such an important life decision.

But De Bruyne could move to the MLS as he does fancy playing his football in the United States.

Even Inter Miami are interested in signing the six-time Premier League winner, where De Bruyne could line up alongside other legends of the game such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

The prospect of De Bruyne signing for Inter Miami is certainly one that is exciting, especially considering that he could play alongside Messi — an opportunity most players can only dream of having.

However, the former VfL Wolfsburg technician will only be focused on the ongoing season for now.

Manchester City look primed to qualify for the Champions League after their 2-1 win against Aston Villa but the mission is far from accomplished.

If De Bruyne can help them do so while also winning the FA Cup, that would be a brilliant way for him to sign off on his time at the Etihad Stadium.
