Fabrizio Romano shares whether Man City could change their mind and decide to keep Kevin De Bruyne now

Kevin De Bruyne dropped a bombshell announcement earlier this month as he announced that he will be leaving Manchester City.

Man City fans were gutted after hearing that Kevin De Bruyne is set to leave the club, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Indeed, De Bruyne is City’s greatest ever player in the eyes of some, and seeing a player of this calibre leave is always heartbreaking.

However, there has been a suggestion recently that De Bruyne could stay at Manchester City.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has now addressed some of that speculation, and he says that City will 100% not be signing De Bruyne to a new deal.

Manchester City won’t make Kevin De Bruyne U-turn

Romano shared what he knows about De Bruyne and his future.

The journalist says he’s consistently been asked if City will change their mind and keep De Bruyne, but he says that this decision is concrete and the Belgian will leave.

De Bruyne has been criticised recently for his performances, so perhaps now is the right time for him to go.

“De Bruyne is leaving Manchester City, that’s 100% we know that. Some of you were asking me maybe there is a chance for Man City to offer him a new deal after they know now he’s negotiating with Premier League clubs,” Romano said.

“Man City will not go back on their decision, so Kevin De Bruyne will leave the club as a free agent. Guys, let me clarify something, I’m not aware of De Bruyne discussing with Como, Kevin De Bruyne is not a target for Como, they’re not even talking from what I am hearing.

Manchester City legends who were released

Manchester City aren’t going to sign De Bruyne to a new deal, and that’s not really surprising to hear.

Indeed, while there’s a lot of sentimental value in keeping De Bruyne around, City aren’t a team who will keep hold of a player just because of their history.

City are incredibly cut-throat in regards to letting legendary players leave the club on free transfers. In fact, almost every club legend over the past 15 years has departed in this way.

Kevin De Bruyne?

David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany all have statues outside of the Etihad, but, ultimately, they all left City on free transfers and didn’t retire at the Etihad.

De Bruyne is a legend at City on the biggest of scales, but he’s not going to get any special treatment in the same way those former legends didn’t either.
