Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Manchester City expect to sign Savio from Troyes in future – if he continues to play well.
The reliable journalist made the comment when speaking to Caught Offside.
So, what did Fabrizio Romano say about Manchester City and Savio? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the City Football Group signed the Brazilian from Atlético Mineiro back in June 2022 in a €6.5m (£6m) deal, and assigned him to Troyes.
Savio has since been loaned out to Girona for the 2023/24 campaign – another side within the City Football Group – and he is currently shining in Spain.
The 19-year-old has scored four goals and provided four assists across 13 appearances in La Liga so far this season, as Girona sit top of the table.
Naturally, many would expect Savio to end up at the City Football Group’s flagship club – Manchester City – if he continues to perform well, and Romano has now confirmed that this was always the idea.
The Italian said: “Savio – Part of City Group at Girona, a potential future move to Man City was part of the original plan for Savio when they signed him. It’s a normal plan but it’s not something guaranteed or decided yet, they want him to focus on Girona as he’s having a great season. Despite rumours, Barcelona are not in concrete talks to sign him.”

Mundo Deportivo have also reinforced this suggestion from Romano – the Spanish news outlet claim that the City Football Group’s priority is to send the South American to Manchester City if he becomes a star.
Savio is aiming to play for Manchester City
Savio’s pathway seems clear if he continues to develop at this rate, and the teenager himself is actually aiming to catch the eye of Manchester City.
The Brazil Under-20 international told MARCA: “The City Group’s project is first class, and I think that if I do well, Manchester City will want me.”

Savio may have to wait until a place on the wing emerges at the Etihad Stadium, as Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden are still young talents themselves.
However, it should excite Manchester City fans to know that a precocious Brazilian wonderkid is practically theirs if he develops into a superstar within the City Football Group.
