‘Fabulous, little player’… Graeme Souness left seriously impressed by £43m Man City star

Graeme Souness was full of praise for Manchester City maestro Bernardo Silva.

Most recently, as the Portuguese international played a crucial role in City’s 3-1 win against Manchester United on Sunday, Dion Dublin claimed he was “outstanding” and “led this team to victory.”

While the £43 million (BBC Sport) man seems to be universally lauded as a world-class midfielder, as Ruben Dias, recently claimed, he is still quite “underrated.”

Graeme Souness says Bernardo Silva is “fabulous”

However, season after season, the 29-year-old continues to shine for Pep Guardiola’s men, with his recent performances in midfield a reminder of why he is one of the best players in Europe.

Graeme Souness was quizzed about who he thinks are the four best midfielders in the Premier League and after naming Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, he also mentioned Bernardo Silva.

“I’d include [Bernardo] Silva. He’s a fabulous, little player”, he said on talkSPORT.

“Unless you pull Silva in and you play [Mohamed] Salah in that side and you go to the striker, so let’s call Salah a midfield player. Let’s get Salah and the three City players.”

Bernardo Silva will prove decisive in the title run-in

As Manchester City are set to enter the Premier League title run-in, with important fixtures against Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur awaiting them, the former AS Monaco midfielder will certainly be relied upon massively to deliver.

Graeme Souness rightly referred to Bernardo Silva as “fabulous” and as he reiterated with his brilliant display against Manchester United, he was born to play in big games.

So much so that it would be a fair argument to make by claiming that Bernardo is perhaps superior against top sides in comparison to when he faces mid-table or even teams lower down the league table.

For instance, even in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash against Copenhagen, the ex-Benfica technician managed to score a delightful goal, which he tends not to do in general as he is far from being the type of player who produces output.

If Bernardo Silva operates at his absolute best during the title run-in, City’s chances of winning four league titles in a row will go up by several notches.
