Manchester City fans don’t want to think about it, but there’s a very real possibility that Pep Guardiola could be in the middle of his final season at the club.
As things currently stand, Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the season on the expiry of his contract.
The club are hopeful that he will continue in his role for a little while longer. It has been suggested that Guardiola could extend at Man City by one year.
Talks will be taking place, and fans are patiently waiting for an end to all the speculation. Of course, in recent days, there has also been more talk about England wanting Guardiola as a replacement for Gareth Southgate.
In the event that Guardiola decides to move on, it has been suggested Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is being considered as his successor.
Amorim, of course, is a manager whose profile has really grown over the last couple of years, having won back-to-back league titles in Portugal.
Hugo Viana is replacing Txiki Begiristain as director of football next summer, and it was perhaps inevitable that Amorim would become linked with the manager’s job amid all the speculation about Guardiola.
Man City fans react to Ruben Amorim managerial links

When Guardiola does leave City, fans are undoubtedly going to have a very hard time getting over it.
The Spaniard has overseen a truly incredible period for the club and allowed fans to experience highs like never before.
Whoever replaces him will have massive shoes to fill, but some fans do like the idea of Amorim stepping into the hot seat.
For many, the fact Viana is coming in means a move for Amorim would make a lot of sense.
Amorim makes total sense for Man City
The ideal scenario is that Guardiola will extend his contract at Manchester City and continue his work at the Etihad Stadium.
But in the event that he wants to stop after this season, then Amorim does make sense as his successor.
