It has been reported that Chelsea have now activated the £35 million release clause to sign Manchester City target Michael Olise.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed just two weeks ago that City had shortlisted him as a potential recruit this summer.

But now it seems like Manchester City-linked winger Michael Olise looks set to become a Chelsea player.

Fabrizio Romano: Chelsea have activated the release clause for Manchester City target Michael Olise

Branded as ‘world-class’ by Beyond The Posts, the Crystal Palace sensation seemed like a perfect fit at the Etihad Stadium.

Coming in to replace Riyad Mahrez, the Hammersmith-born wideman is also left-footed, technically gifted, a skilful dribbler and incredibly creative.

But Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea have triggered the £35 million release clause to sign Manchester City target Michael Olise, with the deal believed to be advancing to the ‘final stages.’

The French U-21 international has said yes to a move to Stamford Bridge with only the final details left to be completed.

Jeremy Doku could be the solution for Manchester City

While many might assume that Chelsea have beaten Manchester City to the signature of Michael Olise, that does not seem to be the truth.

After all, it was only claimed on Sunday that Pep Guardiola is keen on the arrival of Jeremy Doku alongside Lucas Paqueta.

It seems like the Sky Blues simply chose not to formalise their interest in Olise as they shifted their focus towards signing Doku.

The Belgian international is perhaps similar in terms of his raw profile to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

While last season seemed to be an indication of Guardiola completely moving away from this style of winger, it is impossible to predict his likes, dislikes as well as his tactical ideas as he continues to refresh his tactics every season.
