It has been reported that Manchester City are intending to submit a bid to sign Rennes poster-boy Jeremy Doku next week.

This comes from the Daily Mail, after it was claimed on Saturday that Pep Guardiola’s side had ‘agreed terms’ to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

Now, it seems like Manchester City are ready to ramp up their interest by putting in a bid for Jeremy Doku in the coming days.

Jack Gaughan: Manchester City set to launch Jeremy Doku bid next week

Branded as ‘explosive’ by Breaking The Lines, the 21-year-old is believed to be the rightful heir to Riyad Mahrez.

With Michael Olise claimed to be Chelsea-bound at this point, it seems like the treble-winners have prioritised the signing of the Belgian international instead.

Now, it has been revealed that Rennes themselves except Manchester City to place a bid to sign Jeremy Doku next week, who they value for over £30 million.

In addition, Pep Guardiola is keen on the addition of the youngster as well, alongside West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

Jeremy Doku could elevate Erling Haaland’s game even more

If Manchester City end up signing Jeremy Doku, one of the most frightening propositions of this deal could be how much more devastating Erling Haaland could become with his presence.

While the Norwegian megastar is already the best striker in the world and would be a hit in any system, he is at his absolute best in transition.

Haaland’s road-runner like pace and ability to play on the shoulder make him one of, if not the best player on the break in the world.

With the potential addition of another speedster in Jeremy Doku, the Sky Blues will likely explore attacking transitions a lot more than last season and during such attacks, he is the perfect player to put Erling Haaland through on goal.

Whether it be through Doku’s sheer pace or his ability to beat defenders or his incredible ball-carrying ability, he could dovetail with Haaland to form an unstoppable partnership at City.
