“Foot like a hammer”: BBC Sport pundit stunned by how powerful Manchester City player looked in 2-1 win today

Chris Sutton has commented on the power of Erling Haaland after the Manchester City No.9 ended his goal drought against Brighton.

The Nottingham-born pundit made the comment when speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.

So, what did Chris Sutton say about Erling Haaland? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Norway international ended his run of three games without a goal with a thumping effort against Brighton earlier on Saturday, putting Manchester City 2-0 up in the process.

Sutton – a prolific striker himself in his day – could not avoid commenting on just how much power Haaland possesses in his shots.

The 50-year-old said: “A mistake in the Brighton midfield, the youngster Baleba dwelling on the ball. Haaland has barely had a touch in this game so far, but he has a left foot like a hammer. Smashes the ball into the net, a precision finish. Devastating.”

It really was a venomous strike from the 23-year-old, who looked determined to end his mini goal drought from the very first whistle.

Haaland has now scored nine goals in nine Premier League games so far this season.

Haaland goal will hopefully silence any nonsense aimed at Manchester City No.9

Haaland’s run of three games without a goal brought out some truly nonsensical comments from some areas of the media.

Some at ESPN left him out of their Team of the Season so far – despite the fact he sits clear at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts – while Gary Neville called the Norwegian “anonymous” when he’s not finding the net despite his brilliant hold up play.

Haaland may have difficult games at times – especially without the service of Kevin De Bruyne – although nobody can say that he is not a truly special footballer.

Hopefully, the Leeds-born striker’s goal against Brighton ends more foolish talk about his ability.
