French journalist Julien Laurens has said that Rennes wonderkid Jeremy Doku looks set to become a Manchester City player.
Speaking to ESPN FC, the renowned journalist was addressing City’s transfer rumours in the ongoing summer window.
According to Julien Laurens, Jeremy Doku is likely to sign for Manchester City sooner rather than later.
Julien Laurens says Jeremy Doku is now Manchester City-bound
Rennes boss Bruno Genesio admitted on Monday that the club would be willing to part ways with the Belgian for a fee of £43.1 million.

Branded as a ‘dribbling machine’ by The Athletic, Pep Guardiola is internally believed to be keen on his arrival.

Now, Julian Laurens has said that Jeremy Doku is likely to join Manchester City this season.
Gabriel Marcotti initially said, “I was arguing before [Kevin] De Bruyne got injured that they’re short. Because in the front four, you have, say six high-quality players who can fill that in, who can play in those front four roles. And the guy off the bench are effectively [Phil] Foden and Julian Alvarez.”
“Alvarez was on the bench, as it happens because [Cole] Palmer started. You’re cutting it way too fine over the course of a long season. Looks like they got the message, they got linked with not one but two players, quite strongly. One, Lucas Paqueta, the other one, Dani Olmo.”
Julien Laurens responded by bringing up Jeremy Doku as a Manchester City target, saying, “And Jeremy Doku as well.”
“Who’s coming, I think. For sure”, he concluded.
How Pep Guardiola moulds Jeremy Doku will be fascinating to see
It was a surprise to see Manchester City targeting Jeremy Doku in the first place, who could well be the club’s latest signing as per Julien Laurens.
Since last season, it has seemed like Pep Guardiola has decided to prioritise wingers like Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva who are the antithesis of the Belgian, as their primary roles have been to retain possession and help maximise control.
With these factors in mind, how the Catalan boss moulds Jeremy Doku’s game will be interesting to witness, if the move comes to fruition.
Whether Doku is asked to curb some of his natural instincts or tasked to be the explosive presence on the right flank is the question mark.
