Gary Lineker has made an interesting claim about one Manchester City player ahead of the Euro 2024 final between Spain and England.
Several players have been the topic of conversation ahead of what seems guaranteed to be a game for the ages between two incredible footballing nations.
For England, Phil Foden’s genius as well as Kyle Walker and John Stones’ defensive solidity at the back have been factors that are worth assessing in the build-up to the clash.
But Rodri is one player who is perhaps the best player from both sets of teams.
Rio Ferdinand claimed that the Manchester City maestro is “the most valuable player” in world football at this present moment.

Gary Lineker makes fresh Rodri claim ahead of Spain-England Euro 2024 final
The £220,000-a-week man looks set to be the first name on Luis de la Fuente’s team sheet ahead of the game.
Juan Mata also claimed Rodri is “instrumental” for Spain and stated that he views him as a “leader.”
It is rare that a defensive midfielder creates as much discourse as Manchester City’s number 16 has ahead of a final with world-class attackers on both sets of teams.
However, Rodri is truly one-of-a-kind and Gary Lineker feels that if Spain beat England to win Euro 2024, he could be named as the Player of the Tournament.
Lineker said on The Rest Is Football podcast: “I think it will be very much decided probably by which team wins. I think if it’s Spain, I think it’ll either probably be Rodri or even now, the 17-year-old veteran, Lamine Yamal.”
Rodri would certainly deserve to be named Player of The Tournament already
While finals tend to determine which player wins such a title, Rodri is already deserving of it, regardless of if Spain win or lose against England on Sunday.
Not many, if any midfielder has provided the balance the former Atletico Madrid midfielder has in terms of both being an elite controller and brilliant at defending opposition counter-attacks as he has.
Rodri has showcased once again that he is the complete midfielder in a Spanish side that go all-out attack — especially as they tend to send his partner in the double pivot, Fabian Ruiz to be a threat in the final third when the team goes forward.
Even the likes of Dani Carvajal and Marc Cucurella bomb on as attacking full-backs.
As a result, which team wins the win should not determine whether Rodri is regarded as the best player at Euro 2024.
