Retired Man City squad numbers
- No.23 – Former midfielder Marc Vivien Foe was the last City player to score at Maine Road in April 2003. Forty-five days after that strike in a 3-0 win over Sunderland, he died at the age of 28 from an undetected heart condition while representing Cameroon during the Confederations Cup. The No.23 shirt he wore at City has been retired in his honour since.
