Simon Jordan has now advised Kalvin Phillips to leave Manchester City as quickly as possible.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the controversial pundit gave his two cents on the £42 million (The Athletic) man’s time at the Etihad Stadium.

According to Simon Jordan, it is high-time that Kalvin Phillips departs Manchester City, despite having signed for them only last summer.

Simon Jordan urges Kalvin Phillips to leave Manchester City

Branded as ‘intelligent’ by Pep Guardiola, the former Leeds United talisman has been on the periphery of things since joining the English juggernaut.

So much so that after a season where he started a mere two games, it was reported on Monday that City could send him out on loan.

Now, Simon Jordan believes Kalvin Phillips should do everything in his power to end his time at Manchester City to sign for a club where he becomes a regular starter again.

“He’s laid no gloves getting inside that Man City team. It’s a disastrous move for Kalvin Phillips. It’s precluded and excluded him ultimately from the England set-up as a result of a lack of game time. It hasn’t enhanced his confidence in any level. He’s not getting any closer to the side even when there’s an availability of spaces in the side”, he said.

Simon Jordan believes the Premier League winner must leave Manchester City now, saying, “He needs to get out of Manchester City in order to further his career. Now whether someone’s going to facilitate a solution for Liverpool’s conundrum by putting him out of lull, I doubt. I doubt that.”

It is hard to disagree with the pundit as it seems like Mateo Kovacic could now become City’s second-choice defensive midfielder, judging by him looking far more at ease in the role during pre-season, which will only add to the treble-winner’s misery this campaign.
