It has been revealed that West Ham United are set to hold a “new round of talks” to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan in January.
The “negotiations” between the Hammers and Manchester City over Phillips are believed to be “advancing”, as per Fabrizio Romano’s latest revelation.
It was reported on Monday that David Moyes privately believes that he can help the Englishman return to his brilliant best at the London Stadium.
Fabrizio Romano: West Ham set to hold new round of talks to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan
Darren Bent recently claimed that if the Irons managed to secure the services of the 28-year-old this month, they would have made a top signing.
While it was reported on Friday that City were intending to sell Phillips on a permanent basis this month, it seems like a loan deal is the most viable option currently.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that while “negotiations are advancing”, West Ham are set to hold a “new round of talks” with Manchester City to wrap up a loan deal for Kalvin Phillips.

Romano also claimed that the East London side feel “positive” about getting the deal done.
The Italian journalist reported that the move is “getting closer and closer”, with West Ham believed to be discussing the structure of the deal with Pep Guardiola’s men.
Manchester City should target a future Rodri replacement next time after Kalvin Phillips lesson
As Kalvin Phillips is inching closer to heading out on loan to West Ham, Manchester City should perhaps change their transfer strategy when looking for an understudy to Rodri.
Instead of signing a defensive midfielder who would clearly be a backup to the Spaniard, it would be wise to bring in a talented young prospect who could potentially replace him in the future.
In that case, City have a contingency plan in place in case Rodri ever decides to leave the club or when he is past his best as well as a talent on their books who has the minerals to deputise for him in his absence.
In Kalvin Phillips, it seems like Manchester City signed a player who was fit for neither role.
