Gianluigi Donnarumma is officially a Manchester City player.
Manchester City have signed Donnarumma for £30 million as he has replaced Ederson, who has made a move to Fenerbahce.
The Italian international is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and a player who could potentially have a transformative impact on this City side, much like his predecessor did back in 2017.
Erling Haaland admires Donnarumma as he has earned his reputation as a truly elite player after his heroics for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last season.
Gianluigi Donnarumma names Man City manager Pep Guardiola as one of the best in history
Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to add a wealth of experience and quality to a Manchester City side that is hoping to return to the summit of English and European football again.
Donnarumma was keen to join Manchester City and his wish has finally been granted after weeks of speculation surrounding the 26-year-old’s future.
After signing for the English giants, Donnarumma made no secret of his admiration for Pep Guardiola by naming him as one of the greatest managers of all time while speaking to Manchester City’s official website: “I am joining a squad packed with world-class talent and a team led by the one of the greatest managers in the history of football in Pep Guardiola. This is a club every player in world football would love to join.

“I have admired watching Manchester City for many years – so to now be able to play for the Club is a huge honour and a privilege.”
Pep Guardiola has already given Gianluigi Donnarumma verdict
It will be interesting to see whether Pep Guardiola deems Donnarumma as his number one from the get-go or trusts James Trafford in between the sticks for Manchester City in the upcoming weeks. Ultimately, the former PSG shotstopper’s pedigree within the game is incomparable with Trafford, who is yet to play for England and has only made three appearances for City.
Considering Guardiola lauded Donnarumma when he was 18, it seems as if he is likely to view him as his starting goalkeeper for the foreseeable future.
“Donnarumma is a top, top goalkeeper, definitely. He’s big. He has huge skill for 18 years old.”
Guardiola added: “It would depend on him and his teammates whether he played well (in the Premier League) or not but good players can play anywhere.”
