Erling Haaland has been left impressed by a Manchester City youngster who is now about to leave the club.

It’s all chop and change at City this summer.

Ilkay Gundogan has already departed, and Riyad Mahrez will follow out the door.

And there could be further outgoings in the form of Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo and Aymeric Laporte.

Those are just the senior players.

City have already sold Shea Charles to Southampton.

And James Trafford is about to be announced as a new Burnley player.

Now, another promising City youngster is set to leave – and he’s a player that has caught the eye of Haaland.

Haaland left impressed by Carlos Borges

Earlier today, City released a video of the four top goalscorers at the club watching each other’s goals.

Haaland, Women’s star Bunny Shaw, EDS talent Carlos Borges and U18s starlet Justin Oboavwoduo – another player who impressed Haaland – were all asked to commentate on goals that they had scored for the club last season.

There were some great goals.

And the couple of goals that were shown of Borges were really nicely taken.

His first was against Leicester City. He controlled a high through ball with his left knee, almost Riyad Mahrez-style, before finishing low with his right foot into the far corner. On that one, Haaland said: “Great goal, is that Carlos? I think it is. Perfect touch and a lovely finish.”

They then showed Borges’ goal against Liverpool. Borges collected the ball at the back post and finished in off the underside of the crossbar.

Haaland said: “I’ve been training a lot with these guys here as well. Carlos is good.”

Carlos Borges set for £14 million West Ham move

So Haaland has seen what Borges is all about in training.

But the striker won’t be training with him for much longer because it is being reported that West Ham United are set to sign him.

The Hammers are expected to pay around £14 million.

City are believed to have negotiated a buy-back clause, as they tend to do with most of the young players they sell.

The Borges sale is a bit of a shame.

He is a serious talent, but he has never played for City’s first-team.

Hopefully he shows just what he can do at West Ham and then who knows. Maybe City will be triggering that buy-back option in a few years.
